The following are programs offered by the ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune and its partners. Various types of financial assistance are available through these programs.
| Title | Sector | Agency | Energy |
|---|---|---|---|
Feasibility studies and energy simulationsThis program deals with feasibility studies designed to encourage clients to engage the services of specialists to determine energy efficiency opportunities as they relate to natural gas, and to suggest means of exploiting those opportunities. This program helps defray part of the cost of an energy simulation that determines the ways of improving the energy efficiency of a building. It is intended exclusively for commercial clients (CII). |
Institutional, Commercial, Industrial, Municipal | Gaz Métro | Natural Gas |
Feasibility studies and energy simulations – Major industriesThis program deals exclusively with feasibility studies designed to encourage clients to engage the services of specialists or to use their qualified in-house resources to determine energy efficiency opportunities as they relate to natural gas, and to suggest means of exploiting those opportunities. This program is available only to major accounts clients. |
Institutional, Industrial | Gaz Métro | Natural Gas |
Financial assistance for energy efficient renovation of low-income housing and community facilitiesThe purpose of this program is to generate savings in heating (air or water) by integrating measures that improve a building’s energy efficiency, particularly the building envelope and new technologies. The program is offered to two target clienteles – cooperatives and non-profit housing associations, as well as non-profit community groups that provide assistance to the economically disadvantaged. To be eligible for FEÉ programs, organizations must own the building being renovated or be responsible for paying its heating bills. |
Social community | Gaz Métro’s Fonds en efficacité énergétique (FEÉ) | Natural Gas |
Financial assistance for purchase of a solar air and/or water heating systemThe PC440 program is aimed at saving energy used in preheating air or water by providing financial assistance to clients who purchase solar energy systems. The program offers a rebate of $3 per cubic meter of natural gas saved, calculated using an energy simulations. |
Institutional, Commercial, Industrial, Municipal | Gaz Métro’s Fonds en efficacité énergétique (FEÉ) | Natural Gas, Emerging Energy Sources |
Financial assistance for purchase of drainage heat recovery systemThis program provides financial support for the purchase of systems that recover heat from draining water. Such systems consist of a central copper tube that is the same diameter as the drain. Grey water slides along the inside of the central copper tube, which is covered by a copper coil that pre-heats the cold water from the water supply system. The program is offered to Gaz Métro clients who own or rent a single-family home, a duplex or triplex with a natural gas water heater. |
Residential | Gaz Métro’s Fonds en efficacité énergétique (FEÉ) | Natural Gas |
Financial assistance for renovationsThe goal of Gazifère’s renovation program is to improve the thermal characteristics of the building envelope in order to save energy. The program offers financial assistance of $2 per cubic metre of natural gas savings resulting from renovations affecting the building envelope. The program is intended for housing cooperatives and non-profit community organizations helping people in need. |
Social community | Gazifère | Natural Gas |
Free hot water-savings kitThe purpose of this program is to help clients save on hot water and natural gas consumption. You qualify if you are a Gazifère customer whose residence is equipped with a natural gas water heater. The free kit includes energy-saving products such as reduced-flow showerheads, aerators for the kitchen and for the bathroom and three metres of insulation to be installed on the outlet pipe from the water heater. |
Residential | Gazifère | Natural Gas |
Geothermal energySince 2007, Hydro-Québec Distribution has been offering financial support for the installation of geothermal systems in both existing and new buildings. This promotion of geothermal energy is accompanied by greater client awareness that such systems offer optimal performance when associated with a high-quality thermal envelope. The distributor encourages clients to take part in the AEE (Agence de l’efficacité énergétique) Novoclimat and Rénoclimat programs so that they can take advantage of additional financial assistance. |
Residential | Hydro Québec | Electricity, Emerging Energy Sources |
Heavy oil consumption reduction programThis program helps heavy oil consumers make the move toward sustainable development and improve their competitiveness position while reducing fuel oil consumption. Financial assistance is offered for energy analyses, implementing energy efficient measures that target heavy oil, or for switching to less polluting energy sources such as natural gas, electricity and forest biomass. |
Commercial, Institutional, Industrial, Municipal | Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune | Heavy Fuel Oil, Natural Gas, Emerging Energy Sources |
High efficiency boilerThe aim of this program is to help clients save on natural gas consumption by renting water heaters that consume less natural gas than conventional models. All Gazifère residential clients are eligible. |
