Following his first visit, the energy efficiency advisor will send you your home's evaluation report.
Take the time to read it carefully! It is a useful tool that can guide you in your renovation work.
The evaluation report presents every aspect of your home which relates to energy efficiency: insulation, air tightness, the performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems as well as the occupants’ energy consumption habits.
It provides a clear picture of the current situation in your home and indicates its performance rating, also known as the EnerGuide rating or the energy efficiency rating.
For every item contained in the evaluation report, you will find a list of recommended renovations, their order of priority, and their potential energy savings.
The report also provides the possible future EnerGuide rating of your home after renovations if the renovation work is carried out completely and correctly.
Are you looking for more renovation tips? Consult our helpful advice section then talk about your renovation project with your advisor.
Check with your advisor if the renovations you are planning to make appear on the list of non-eligible work. Renovation work appearing on this list does not make you eligible to receive Rénoclimat financial assistance.
The EnerGuide rating is a figure between 0 and 100 that represents the exact measure of your home’s energy efficiency. This unit of measure is established by the Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE). It allows you to compare the performance of one residence with that of other residences of similar size in the same region.
The table below shows how to find the EnerGuide rating of your home based on its characteristics.
EnerGuide Rating | House Characteristics |
|---|---|
0 to 50 | Older, unrenovated home |
51 to 65 | Older, renovated home |
66 to 74 | Older home with energy savings retrofit, or new standard home |
75 to 79 | New energy efficient home |
80 to 90 | New, high energy performance home |
91 to 100 | Home that requires little or no energy purchases |
A new Novoclimat home must have a minimum performance rating of 78. For a new R-2000 home, the minimum rating is 80.
Your home’s EnerGuide rating appears in the evaluation report and on a self-adhesive label that is given to you which must be applied to the electrical panel of your home.
