Freight transport

Optimize freight transport by improving the energy efficiency of your operations

The transport sector represents the biggest challenge in the struggle with climate change. In Québec, it accounts for almost 40% of greenhouse gas emissions and 25% of total energy consumption. Highway vehicles are responsible for more than 80% of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption for transport. The principal greenhouse gas emitted by vehicles is carbon dioxide (CO).

The Government of Québec intends to practice what it preaches as regards energy efficiency in transportation. As outlined in the 2006-2015 L’énergie pour construire le Québec de demain, (PDF | 14 Mo)  the government’s objective is to reduce fuel consumption for government ministries and organizations by 20% by 2010, as compared to 2003 consumption levels. That objective implies an equivalent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
